I graduated from RIT in 2003 with a Professional & Techical Communications degree and since then have been doing as much work with words and images as possible. I've had stints as a digital prepress technician (which I'm thankful for every time something comes from the press looking like it should) a restaurant chalkboard artist, an entertainment journalist and a staff illustrator (the first) for Cornell University's Cornell Chronicle.
I live in Trumansburg, NY, a small town outside of Ithaca and work primarly from home on an old kitchen table saved from an RIT dumpster. I love found objects and natural media and use both whenever possible. This has turned out to be incredibly well received- even when I was convinced that only the slickest, most digital designs would be accepted. My biggest outlet for a long time was chalkboard ads and band posters - both are usually low-paying and short notice (and may require standing on top of things with your arm held up for extended periods) but they're awesome in terms of teaching you on-the-spot creativity and how to give something your full attention and get it done. These days, I've had the chance to branch out to magazine covers, editorial illustrations, t-shirts, stickers, album art, giant vinyl banners and websites. I'm always on the prowl for new projects, so if you think you have something that needs an image, words, or both, contact me by phone or email.
